---- QUICK OVERVIEW -------------------------------------------

As the stranger who wanders in from the desert, you enter the
gates of Diamondback possessing little more than your wits.
Immediately you'll begin to encounter an eccentric cast of
misfits, none of them short on words. Listen carefully to them
for advice, hints of eminent dangers, and whispers about a
compelling mystery. Find out what you can about the people you
meet -- what makes them angry, what makes them tick, and what
they may be able to offer you.	Some will be of great help;
others will need to be approached with caution or given a wide
berth. Read newspapers, handbills, and any books you come
across. On the first day you'll need to find and procure a
gun, bullets, and a new pair of boots. Survive that first day
and things should begin to fall into place. Here are some
hints:

- Click on the cow skull to find the Control Panel and game
buttons. From here, you can save a game, open a saved game,
quit the current game, adjust the sound volume, or get help.

- Click on the map icon for a quick reference to the town's
layout. Think of the keyboard as your feet and the mouse as
your hand. Use arrow keys to move forward and turn left and
right. (To customize your keyboard, simply access the Control
Panel, click on each direction box and type in the desired
key.) Click on doors to go in and out of buildings and rooms.
Click on people to talk to them.

- When you talk to people, choose your responses with care.
Remember what people say to you and rest assured -- they'll
undoubtedly remember you. If you'd like to hear characters
repeat what they have just said, simply click on them.

- Click on objects that interest you; many can be examined
closely to gain helpful information; some can be picked up and
saved for later use.

- Your image is the cowboy in the lower right-hand corner of
the screen. Click on it and you'll see the items you've got
at your disposal for tender or use.

- You can always get help by clicking on the HELP button on
the Control Panel. For more advice, visit the Curiosity Shop.
The shopkeeper can provide you with clues and assistance.

- Read The Diamondback Rattler daily.

- A useful book on Diamondback's history is available for
purchase or trade at the Curiosity Shop.

- Explore the Santa Marta Mission. However, many of its
deeper secrets aren't immediately apparent.

- You'll likely need some cash. You can fatten your bankroll
(or part ways with it) in a poker game at the Hard Drive Saloon.
If 5-card's not your game, there's also Blackjack and slots.

- Practice your shooting skills at the target range on the
edge of town. Deadeye aim could come in mighty handy.

- In a face-to-face shootout, click on your hand, then your
gun, then your target.

Keep your boots polished, your eyes on the horizon, and the
burrs from beneath your saddle. Happy trails.
